Watch IPL with beer and snacks at Sports Bar

Either Lalit Modi and his buddies at IPL have got it all wrong or Mumbai Indians and Deccan Chargers have no female fan following. It was largely an all boys domain at the Sports Bar in Gurgaon Central Mall the day this correspondent went pub hopping. Keeping in mind the IPL packages one can’t see no real reason why it shouldn’t be so.

Labeled the IPL Tankup offer, the Sports Bar offers a combo of unlimited snacks and unlimited beer during the Indian Premier League matches. The free flowing Foster’s Beer comes in pints and it truly is unlimited. They are perhaps too shy or believe that you will understand the terms of the offer. The snacks are a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare and come in small helpings.

There is Hara Channa Chaat, Nachos, Chicken Lollipop and Chilli Chicken and Nachos. While the nachos are tanked up, the five pieces of Paneer Tikka disappear before the end of an over! The snack that stands out is the finely peppered to perfection Hara Channa Chaat. Just when you think that the portions were truly meant for an individual some other waiter will emerge with a fresh plate of one of the snacks. And just as you will assure him that you’ve had your share, he’d reveal that the snacks too are unlimited.

For the activities’ oriented, there is a pool-table (Rs 90/frame), a basketball hoop and Nitendo Wii (Rs 40/game) in one corner. The place is blessed with an excellent view of the high rise and the impending Metro line running across one side of the bar. The entry to the bar is more promising as opposed to the 4000 sq. ft. interiors. Strictly speaking at Rs 599 plus taxes the offer isn’t too bad at least quantity wise. All in all the place isn’t what you must have had in your mind while you jostle up the floors in the Central Mall but it’s not a bad deal considering you get your own cheering party.

The Indian Premier League has fixtures till the last week of May and the Sports Bar is bound to do good business. One wouldn’t know what to do with it once the match’s over.
